The publication of this photo book is the result of the award. This work is a series featuring a person living in a coastal town in the Tohoku region, whom Kihara met for only four times. From the winter of 2017 to the spring of 2019, Kihara traveled four times from her home in Fukuoka to Ishinomaki where her subject lives. The photos, taken in an ambiguous relationship that is neither as strangers nor as friends, begin with photographs of landscapes that connect their respective living environments, such as from planes and in airports. Then to the small town's chimney, hills that change with the seasons, and strawberry farms, with the subject's expressions captured vividly. The book’s theme is the relationships with others who are not family, lovers, or friends, is also an attempt to see if it is possible to affirm and accept the existence that has crossed with oneself for a moment, just as it is, in the countless encounters and partings in life. The number of photographs has increased from 83 to 120 since submission, and the structure of the book has been significantly revised.
